Same old song and dance

So not much going on here these days. I am getting close to the end of fall term at school and I am super excited for Christmas break. I can't wait to put up a tree and decorations but I have to wait until my school stuff is done.

Madison is doing really well in school. She is finally paying attention(most of the time) and doing her work. She does get distracted with a few certain friends of hers. I am also excited that she has learned how to spell "Madi". She is also quite into saying "I don't know why......." phrases. Which I find quiet interesting.She has also learned what lying is. This has been a challenge to try to teach her. She's so bad at it that we always know(Hehehehe....)She is really growing up, and I am such a stressed out, and proud momma.

Nathan is a jumping, punching, gonna get you, web slinging, fearless, transforming spiderman. He has such an amazing thought process. The things that this two year old says is far beyond what he should know, understand, and pretend.

2-weeks post LASIK

So, it has been two weeks since I had LASIK done. I enjoy the freedom of walking throughout the house. However, I am having some issues with driving. My vision is not as good as my doctor had hoped but my stubborn astigmatism is still hanging around and causing me some trouble. I have another two weeks before we know what the real out come is going to be. I hope it gets better or worse. If it gets better I will then be able to see clearly when driving, if it gets worse then I will be considered for a touch-up in a couple of months. If my vision stays where it is I will have to get glasses to drive. I am staying optimistic but I am a little worried. I do feel different without my glasses to hide behind.

Nate's First Haircut

I took Nate to get his first hair cut on Halloween. His hair was getting so long on top it was getting in his eyes and it just looked shaggy and akward. So, we (me and the sylist) bribed Nate with a sucker to follow her to the chair for his haircut. It worked like a charm! He did excellent and enjoyed his candy. I think he looks absolutly adorable with his new clean cut look, it makes him look like such a big boy.



I just realized that I don't have any pictures of Nate after his haircut. I will be taking one soon and getting it posted.

Halloween

We always enjoy Halloween, especially now that we have kids. Jeff has been lucky enough to get Halloween off every year since Madison was born, until this year. He worked diligently to try to find someone at work to trade with him in order to get the day off but in the end he still had to go to work Halloween night. Therefore, I got to get two little munchkins dressed and ready for trick-or-treating.



I was fortunate enough that my friend Rachel and her two kids were going with us as her husband was working that night as well, in fact he and Jeff work at the same place.



I also made the call to my in-laws for backup. Papa and granny were of course more than happy to spend an hour or so with the grand kids for Halloween, as they have for the last few years.



Here in Pendleton they do a safe Halloween downtown on Main street for the kids, it is great for the little ones. So we went downtown and got those kiddos some candy and I called it a night.






We went to our friends to hang out and Madi and her best friend Caiden handed out candy to kids that stopped by. I think Madi had more fun doing that than trick-or-treating. I even dressed up a little which I don't normally do.






We all had fun but I enjoy it much more when Jeff is there with us, maybe next year.

LASIK

Sorry I haven't updated over the last week. I have been super busy with school work, preparing for Halloween, and getting ready for my surgery.

Well, my surgery went great. I was able to see as soon as he was done. I did end up with a broken blood vessel when they were marking my astigmatism on my right eye. It was hurting quite a bit when my numbing medicine wore off. A few hours after surgery I went and saw my eye doctor here in town and he told me it would be fine and that it would go away. I find it such a great convenience to have my own eye doctor doing all of my post-op appointments so we don't have to drive almost an hour to Kennewick.

My eyes are sensitive to bright lights right now so I get to wear my sunglasses everywhere. My favorite was last night I went to WalMart and their lights are so bright I had to shop with sunglasses on at 8pm. I certainly got more than a few weird looks. When I got home Jeff asked me how my drive at night went, and I replied "I felt like I was doing something illegal."

I have to sleep with my sunglasses on at night in order to protect my eyes while sleeping, only for the first week. I also have to put drops in my eyes quite often but that certainly won't be forever. So far I am super happy with the results. In about a month I should be done with the drops, my eyes should be done adjusting, and my corneal flap should be plenty healed.

Oh, and Jeff got to watch the whole surgery. He was on the other side of a glass wall and had a large flat screen t.v. to see close up, what was happening. He also had an employee tell him step-by-step what they were doing. I'm kinda jealous. Hmmm.......I wonder if I can get a copy, O.k. not really. I can't believe I can see! It's amazing!

Yesterday we finally got to put Nathan's new bed together. He doesn't seem to even notice or care that he has a new bed, but it's cute and Jeff and I really like it. It makes his room seem much bigger without a huge crib in it.




We also had the kids paint their little pumpkins last night. Naturally, they had paint everywhere by the time they were done. We had a good time and it didn't take a whole lot of time.

Well I didn't want to cram all of the pictures in the last blog so here are the ones of Madi on the bus.

Preschool pumpkin patch

Today Madi got to ride a bus for the very first time. She had her first field-trip, they went to the college agricultural department and visited all of the animals and then to the pumpkin patch. I was allowed to skip out on an hour of tutoring at the college in order to get spend and hour with Madison and her class. She and the other kids were excited to see me, which was a nice welcome as the teachers seemed to have cared less. When we reached the pumpkin patch the kids spread out in search of the perfect pumpkin. It was way to cute to watch. Being the person I am, I jumped right in the middle of helping out all of the little munchkins, I had so much fun. Most of the kids found big pumpkins that were far to big for them to carry in their plastic grocery bags; that I was glad to see were being recycled. The bags were quite convenient for the kids to carry, or drag their pumpkins in. Then they marked the bags with each of their names, so that they were easily identifiable later. Of course, I was encouraging the kids to get the biggest pumpkin they could find, but most of them decided that the small green ones were much easier to carry. Well, least to say Madi ended up with the largest pumpkin in the class-WHOOPS. I even helped them herd the kids back to the bus and helped them all buckle in their seats on the bus (I think the other parent and teachers were outside the bus chit-chatting with each other). I also got some cute pictures of the kids doing their thing at the pumpkin patch, the boys certainly got goofy once they saw a camera. I went back into the school with a big smile on my face. Thinking about it now I really must thank my boss for allowing me to skip out on an hour of my first day of work. I will post a few of the pictures later, I even got some of Madi's first time on the bus. My baby girl is getting so big, and I am so very proud of her.

Hopefully getting new eyes soon

Today was just another day. We went and picked up Nathan's new toddler bed today. We are waiting until Thursday to put it together so that Jeff can be home to see Nate use it for the first time. I'm pretty sure it's going to kill me to look at the box for the next 3 1/2 days.

Most of you probably don't know that I have wanted LASIK eye surgery for a very long time. We have decided to go forward with this amazing surgery. I have been researching it and talking with my ophthalmologist about it for the last couple of years. I am having the surgery on October 29th. It's being done at PCLI-Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in Kennewick, Washington. We are going in at 7:45 a.m. and I will be there for 2-3 hours. Even though the surgery only takes a matter of minutes they have to double check all of the important measurements of my eye as to do their best to not damage them. Sounded good to me. If any of the measurements don't meet their standards I will not be allowed to have the surgery. I am excited and a tiny portion of me is nervous as they are going to be cutting my eye and using a laser to burn the surface to reshape it. Seems like a good reason to be nervous, don't you? I can't wait to be free of glasses!!! I can't wait to be able to wear sunglasses when it's bright outside, I can't wait to get up every morning and not have to find my dirty, bent up glasses. I can wear hats without them hurting my ears where they squish against my glasses. I will be able to get in a pool and see, or not look stupid having to wear my glasses in the pool. I can wear a dress and feel pretty instead of looking stupid with my glasses on. I will be a freedom for me that I can't really explain. It will be a bummer if I can't get it done or it doesn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I have worn glasses for almost 20 years they are routine in my everyday life so I'm not to worried about having to continue the routine.

Let's try blogging

Well here is my first blog and I'm not sure how I feel about doing one. I really don't have the time to keep up with one but I think there is some family that would be interested in what is going on in our lives as we are busy and can't seem to stay in close contact with people. Well, here it goes.
